What are the museum's opening hours?
The Dessie Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We are closed on Mondays and public holidays. Extended hours are available during special exhibitions.
How much does admission cost?
General admission is 200 ETB for adults, 100 ETB for students and seniors, and 50 ETB for children (ages 6-12). Children under 6 are admitted free. Group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more.
Do you offer guided tours?
Yes, we offer guided tours in English, Amharic, and other languages. Tours can be booked in advance or arranged on-site. Private group tours are available by appointment.
Is the museum accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes, the museum is fully accessible with wheelchair ramps, accessible restrooms, and elevators. We also offer audio descriptions and tactile exhibits for visitors with visual impairments.
Can I take photographs inside the museum?
Personal photography is permitted in most areas of the museum for non-commercial use. However, flash photography is not allowed to protect the artifacts. Professional photography requires prior permission.
Do you have a gift shop or café?
Yes, our museum shop offers books, postcards, and replicas of artifacts. We also have a café serving light refreshments, coffee, and traditional Ethiopian beverages.
